Silence... Can You Hear it? Review: A formulaic taut thriller that fits best on the vigorous shoulders of Manoj Bajpayee!

Silence Review

Whenever we read Agatha Christie’s novel or watch films based on her books what basically intrigues us is her fictional detective Hercule Poirot’s style of resolving the mysterious case. It’s known that there is a part of the audience section, who love to watch some suspense crime thriller films and web-series. Even in Bollywood, films like Talaash, Raat Akeli Hai, Ittefaq, Kahaani are few films which leave a mark on audiences’ minds. With this, one of the emerging OTT platforms, ZEE5 has recently released Manoj Bajpayee starrer Silence… Can You Hear it? If it’s Manoj in the film then who can resist himself from not watching his brilliant piece of acting. So with this, let’s have a look at the Silence film and get to know whether it’s a worth of watch or you can skip it this weekend.

Silence… Can You Hear it? starts with a droll conversation of four friends who are trekking but things turn into the momentous situation when they find the dead body of a young girl Pooja (Barkha Singh). Police come for the investigation and they get to know that the girl is not a commoner but is the daughter of a high-profile judge Chaudhary (Shishir Sharma). He later requests the police commissioner to assign ACP Avinash Verma (Manoj Bajpayee) to investigate Pooja’s murder case.

Avinash is among those police inspectors who are not bound by rules but believe in justice. Meanwhile, he gets the accompaniment of Inspector Sanjana Bhatia (Prachi Desai), Inspector Amit Chauhan (Sahil Vaid), Inspector Raj Gupta (Vaquar Sheikh). Well, while doing the investigation they get to know that before her death, she went on to meet her best friend Kavita who is the wife of an MLA Ravi Khanna (Arjun Mathur). But Kavita met with an accident on the same day of Pooja’s demise and is in a coma. So is Ravi behind the death of Pooja and Kavita’s serious condition or there is some other person behind the mystery, Well, you will get your all answer in the two hours of silence.

Aban Bharucha Deohans has written and directed the film, is all about the seven-day investigation in which Manoj Bajpayee’s character finds out the real killer and reason behind Pooja’s murder too. Aban tried to make it more suspenseful and mysterious but it was the film’s first half which was slow. The second half also takes a roller coaster ride but it didn’t take the story on the right path and interestingly, the main savior of the entire film plot is the last few minutes.

Aban Bharucha Deohans’s film is simple but the entire investigation revolves in such a manner that makes the film interesting till the end. Cinematography by Arvind Singh is elevated as his art of photography and camerawork is entrancing. Sandeep Kumar Sethy’s editing can be improvised if he cut short some unnecessary scenes from the film.

More on the performance front, Manoj Bajpayee is the pure soul of the film. His acting fits best in the role of Avinash, the one who is justice-oriented and who resolves the case in such a short period of time. His dialogue delivery takes the film to the next level. He is believable, honest with his acting. Naturally, an attempt is made by the director to capitalize Bajpayee’s angry cop image here.

In Silence, you will also get to see the Made In Heaven fame Arjun Mathur, who played the role of suspicious culprit MLA Ravi Khanna. Just like his earlier work, Arjun has brilliantly shared the frame with Manoj. Rest about the other star cast, Prachi Desai did a comeback with Silence and she maintains a balance in the star cast. As to where Sahil Vaid is funny, Manoj is a dashing serious cop, then Prachi makes a balance with their personalities.
