Mohanlal, Sridevi and Manju Warrier were the first choices, reveals Mission Mangal director
In recent years, Bollywood has become more interested in producing biopics and movies with a real-life theme. The most recent example is “Mission Mangal.” Jagan Shakti is the director of the film, which is based on Mangalyaan, India’s first interplanetary project that reached Mars orbit. The cast, which stars Akshay Kumar, is superb. Other notable actors include Vidya Balan, Nithya Menen, Tapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, and Kirti Kulhari.
The film’s creators claim that “Mission Mangal” is based on the amazing true story of a scientist named Rakesh Dhawan, played by Akshay Kumar, and Tara Shinde, played by Vidya Balan, who overcame their own obstacles and failures to lead a group of scientists who were responsible for one of the most important space missions in history: the launch of India’s first satellite to Mars.
It’s interesting to note that although Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan ultimately won the roles, filmmaker Jagan Shakti originally had Mohanlal and Sridevi in mind. Manju Warrier was first considered for the role played by Nithya Menen. These fascinating facts were disclosed by Jagan in a recent interview with a Malayalam media outlet.
